Aunc.1664 net.unix-wizards utzoo!decvax!duke!unc!wm Thu Jan 7 23:07:41 1982 user interface WHAT I WANT phs followup The system I was promoting is NOT a menu-driven system. It is a command driven system, the menus are there just to help you find a command, but you never need to look at them to get at any command in the system. Now, after you type the name of the command, if you do not type a period, you DO get a single menu, the one containing the options and defaults. You could NOT do this by having a shell that generates the correct command lines for each command. You MIGHT be able to generate something similar to it, but bad enough so that unix users would take one look at it, shake theirs heads, and remain convinced that menu driven systems are no good. Please, is there anyone else out there who has used the TI DX10 operating system? And please, I am not promoting that operating system, just its user interface. The rest of the system sucks pretty bad. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
