The wiring shops ( WH, HO, MH, PY, ... ) have developed a sincere interest (ie. investing $$) in using UCDS. What does this mean to the engineers and other users? a) There will be a larger user group, hence greater interest in SUPPORT. b) Boards will be wired RELIABLY c) Once a board has been entered, CHANGES can be made easily d) Boards can be wired by whatever types of machines can provide the QUICKEST TURNAROUND e) LSL can (?) be generated for LAMP, Test Vector Generation, etc. f) An interface to EID will soon be available to permit: GOOD LDI SCHEMATICS, PCBs, Multi-layer, Multi-wire, etc. g) It will create alternative way to get schematics entered into UCDS (in case your work pressure crunches in on you) h) Your circuit will be available on UNIX\TM/ for INVENTORY, EDITING, CHECKING, etc. from the convenience of your office (or terminal room). BUT, now for the bad news ... They need volunteers to help them get started on the system. YES, YOU! (Not so bad after all.) If anyone out there is willing to help out -- full or part-time, male or female, no teaching experience necessary -- ALL OF BELL LABS WILL BENEFIT! This is a job that cannot (and should not) be left to "someone else" -- if so, it may not get done! Be the first on your block to sign up. Write me (WH2E-308A, Jim Arnold, harpo!jea x3144) or Tom Landis (WH6E-136, x2148) for details. THE FUTURE OF YOUR PROTOTYPES IS IN YOUR HANDS! Call or write today.
