Atekcad.105 net.suicide utcsrgv!utzoo!decvax!ucbvax!mhtsa!harpo!cbosg!teklabs!tekcad!franka Fri Jan 29 09:08:04 1982 All things in moderation Having just read we13!prg's suggestion that I become the moderator of the methods section of net.suicide, I must say that I am very flattered. At this time I do not believe that there is sufficient mail traffic in this newsgroup for a moderator (let alone a sub-moderator). In the event that one is ever needed, however, I would be proud to serve. My qualifications are as follows: 1) I saw the movie "Ordinary People" and my little sister looks a little bit like Mary Tyler Moore. 2) Whenever I hear of somebody trying to take a high-dive off the 12'th floor or trying to suck bullets out of the barrel of a .38, I rush out to be one of the crowd yelling, "Do it! Do it!" 3) I personally know of a man who was soooooo despondent when he got a Rubick's cube and his eight year old son was better at solving it than he was that he built a giant motorized version of it, strapped himself to it, and twisted himself to death. 4) Though I cannot personally try all the methods sent to me, I am in charge of a group of Explorer Scouts who would be perfect for testing these methods on. In closing, I feel that net.suicide needs a better image if it is to remain a prosperous news group. Perhaps we could put out a weekly digest with a catchy name like "Dead Letter Digest" and distribute it to the ARPA net (from what I hear the military is very interested in death and destruction). Perhaps we could get a grant from (dare I dream it?) the National Association of Funeral Home Directors! Well, let it be known that if our volume goes up a bit that all my life I've been dying to get a chance to do something like this, so get our circulation up (or down if you're into wrist slitting) and maybe WE can have a big digest just like all the biggies on the net. Keep those cards and dead.letter's coming in.
