Needless to say I was not too succesful. I had all sorts of fun in trying to hide it by making fancy unique id's for news, but the news program wouldn't accept (1) more the 14 characters for a unique id, and (2) let me change to something like mod36 and use a-z,0-9 to get my information into there. It accepts only 'system.#' strings. SO, I had to put it somewhere else. I messed up with the subject field, as numerous people have pointed out to me, but this has been corrected and the number of header lines has dropped from 4 to 2. The only piece of info left in the header that might not really be needed is the date the article was written. The unique id information (the line #R:some:stuff:here:) is needed to permit notesfile 'subnets' to correctly associate notes and responses that come from other notesfile subnets through news. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
