(I wish we ran netnews here...) We'll be releasing version 1.0 of B netnews right after USENIX. (Actually, there might even be time to install it while I'm down there if you want.) I understand the reason you haven't run it up until now is that it has only been out in test versions. I've carboned this to net.news which will post it to net.news. I think without installing netnews the best you can do is to mail to csvax.netnews@Berkeley which will post it there. I am seeing a lot of flack in netnews about how dumb it is for netnews to be compatible with mh folder and message architecture. What's the problem? Why can't the newsgroup names simply be unix pathnames with 14 characters per element and slashes in between? unix/bugs/v7, etc. This is exactly what we want to do, but I was under the impression that MH news does not allow subdirectories like that. Maybe I'm wrong? If so, how are the .files handled? MH's mapping of message folders to directories and messages to files is simple, straightforward, and unix-like. Any command can easily be used on any message or group of messages, like find, grep, e, etc. etc. etc. I agree completely. --dave Mark ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
