Autah-cs.147 net.news utzoo!decvax!ucbvax!ihnss!mhtsa!harpo!utah-cs!lepreau Tue Dec 22 16:07:45 1981 Losing Q: first lines Either people's humor is considerably more subtle than the general level on the net would indicate, or there is a bug in netnews or uucp. (Or there's some unannounced censorship going on!) Any message which begins with Q: appears to get that first line deleted. It is not just a leading 'Q', because 'Q. ' has gotten thru. I suspect ihnss or harpo, as these are the only sites which the problem messages' routes all have in common. (Note that harpo is our gateway, so of course they are in every path.) From watarts!mab's article (watarts.1027), they too are seeing the problem, so it's not utah-cs, and it works in tests here on local machines. The following are the articles which exhibit the problem. csin.217 ihnss.848 ihnss.894 ihnss.895 ihnss.940 nsc.110 phs.184 pur-ee.191 ucbarpa.537 We have been tantalized by far too many A:'s without the corresponding questions!
