Acbosgd.422 net.news utzoo!decvax!ucbvax!ihnss!cbosg!cbosgd!mark Thu Dec 17 14:00:15 1981 using your ngfile I hadn't realized it before, but the ngfile only restricts the newsgroups of articles posted locally - it has nothing to do with articles that come in from other network sites. (At least this is true in B news, and I think it must also be true in A news.) This makes it possible to specifically un-authorize certain newsgroups and classes of newsgroups. For those of you that have "all" in your ngfile, you probably should include something like all !fa.all !net.unix-wizards where you list all the newsgroups you specifically DON'T want people to post to. We certainly should have !fa.all in all ngfiles except those at Berkeley where it has to be there, and it might be nice to forbid some of those bad ones that keep cropping up. I recommend that all sites check their ngfiles and forbid some newsgroups today! ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
