Acwruecmp.22 net.news utzoo!decvax!cwruecmp!ordy Tue Dec 1 18:05:25 1981 news bug We have just had a very interesting bug with our version A news system, under 4.1 BSD. One user had an entry in the .uindex file of about 120 characters, which appeared to make the system stop accepting news! After checking the source, we noticed the BUFLEN define in params.h, which was 100. This caused long lines in the .uindex file to force an exit. In the meantime, it appears as if we have lost a days news. Is this a known about bug? Will version B have it? If this is a limit, it seems like it should be alot bigger, as he only had about 8 groups, which at the rate groups are springing up is not at all unreasonable. As for us, it is now larger.
