In a ring, there are 2 paths from any point to another, squaring the reliability. However 1 ring wont work for the whole network. A chain of rings connected by gateways would be better. Better yet if there were more than 1 gateway between adjacent rings. A topology sort of like the Olympic symbol of 5 interlocking rings might be even better... However theory is one thing, and implementation is another.
