For those of you who don't read net.games, I sent out an initial inquiry two weeks ago to see if there was any interest in a play-by- (net)-mail game of Diplomacy, which is a multi-player game of negotiation invented in the mid 1950's by Allan Calhamer. I am willing to act as a gamesmaster and coordinate the affair. Response was quite good, and I even received enough spectator interest to warrant putting the game's in-progress movement reports on the net for general consumption. To this purpose, the formation of net.games.dip has been suggested, to keep those interested in this game (and Diplomacy in general) informed without cluttering net.games for those who are not. What's the general reaction out there? Any strong objections?
