If you back up one article and cross over a newsgroup boundary, you usually will get some psychotic behavior (either the old newsgroup gets updated like the next NG in .newsrc or you then lose the NG you backed up from). I *fixed* it by arranging to save the bitmap and statbuf along with the article name, number and groupname. These get restored when you back up (the '-' command) and saved with every article. You also get some mileage out of saving the file offset in the ACTIVE file so you can return to where you were w/respect to other newsgroups, but you get what you deserve if you start jumping around with the N command. It would be nice if you could backup n articles, but I see no way short of a rewrite. This fix makes it usable; does NOTESFILE solve the problem? I seem to recall some problems posted a while ago, but saw no fixes. I assume the *real* B news will not have this problem, but it was heck trying to use this one (however vast an improvement over A news).
