This is in responce to a comment he made in net.misc concerning putting the Astrological Digest on net.misc. Maybe this will promt some discussion (even though there were some flames about this a few months ago). To: duke!decvax!ucbvax!mhtsa!npois!eiss!eisx!ggw Date: Sat Mar 6 09:54:38 1982 I strongly disagree with you. Placing such things as the Astrological Digest in net.misc not only irks me, and bugs me (because I really don't care to see any of it), but it also endangers my use of the net. Maybe if you are at college there is no real concern, but when you work for a company there is usually a tighter control over where money is being spent. My company is small, and has alloted only a small amount of money for the net (including long distance phone calls, overhead expenses for accepting net news etc.) When management sees the type of stuff that flys accross the net (like the Astrological Digest), they are much more inclined to get rid of the net, in which case we all loose. Also, because I am paid a salary, I don't really like wasting my time (and my company's money) reading things that I know I'm not going to be interested in. That is why there are net groups. net.misc (as I understand it) is for short miscellaneous articles that have a short life span (I do NOT consider 2 months a short life span). It is not a place for 164 line digest articles. I, and I'm sure a number of others in my situateion, would really appreciate it if you would send your articles over net.astrology or some such. Leave net.misc alone, or at least leave it for its intended purpose. Don't make us have to loose the privelage of reading informative news over the net. Brent Kornman.
