Autzoo.1644 net.general utzoo!henry Thu May 6 13:04:22 1982 uucp file prefixes I am contemplating some modifications to uucp which might be useful enough to publish eventually. In connection with this, I find I have a need for a new spool-file prefix letter. The only letters that I know uucp uses right now are C, D, and X. Does anybody (specifically, anyone within Bell with inside knowledge on this) know if any current or planned uucp software uses the letter F as a filename prefix? If so, can you suggest an unused letter? I would prefer to avoid doing something that is going to collide with later software, especially in the network environment where global propagation of fixups cannot be guaranteed. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
