"Users on a given system may individually subscribe and submit articles to arbitrary sets of newsgroups." [From original Usenet paper] There is no excuse for B news to mis-handle this basic feature of news which is used routinely here to submit to subsets of "grads,faculty,systems,graphics,vlsi,...". Don't tell me a "faculty, vlsi" article should really go to "general"! There are two ways a reader sees an article twice: 1) The sender submits it twice, annoying both A and B news users. The sender should instead submit it once, to both newsgroups. 2) The sender submits it to two newsgroups, annoying B news users. He did the right thing! This is an old bug in B news, which will presumably be fixed in the next release.
