Abmd70.162 net.general utzoo!decvax!duke!bmd70!dpk Wed Nov 4 20:29:13 1981 BRL now on the Net We would like to announce that the U.S. Army Ballistic Research Lab is now connected to USENET. Our sitename will be "bmd70" and we will connect to Duke. We are currently running the MMDF mail system developed at the University of Delaware (UDel). In the future we will be serving as a redistribution point for several other sites at BRL and in the Baltimore area. Mail intended to be sent through our site to another BRL connected site should addressed to: "...!duke!bmd70!person@host" where "host" is the name of a site known to the bmd70. Note that we will not accept addresses of the form "host!person". You will have to use the ARPAnet style "@" notation to reach other hosts connected to the "bmd70". Currently the only other site connected to "bmd70" is "brl" (not including Duke). As some of you may recognize, this is one of the ARPAnet sites. Unfortunately we cannot allow any gateway activity and any attempt to gateway will cause your letter to be sent to the system managers and not forwarded. Sorry but we have to live by the rules. Our Shop: We are running a V7 compatible (highly modified) V6 kernel known as BRLNET/JHU Unix. We have 2 (soon 3) 11/70's, 3 11/34's, and a Cyber 173/7600 combo. Our interests include Local Area Networking, Multi-CPU File-system Sharing, Solids Modelling/Editing, UNIX performance mods, Office Automation, and Porting UNIX. We would greatly like to here from others with similiar interests. I will be glad to field questions/comments and direct them to appropriate people.
