We have 32 line Emulex CS11/H multiplexers that are perhaps two months old, (revision C). We find that they have electronic diarrhea -- i.e. they are constantly interrupting, (probably the modem control lines floating around zero being interpreted as state transitions). This drives Unix crazy servicing meaningless interrupts. Neither our current Able DMAXes nor the prior DH11s exhibited this problem. Rumor has it that Emulex is up to Rev level F on the CS11 by now and that the last revision was specifically to solve problems for Unix systems. Does anyone know more about this? The Emulex is great packaging, (only 1 flat cable for up to 64 ports), but I wouldn't advise buying any until this problem is better understood... Peter Langston p.s. If ucbvax!unix-wizards would pass this through to Arpa I'd appreciate it. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
