Apur-ee.123 net.general utzoo!decvax!pur-ee!aef Mon Aug 24 16:13:14 1981 UUCP gateway With regard to the ARPA/UUCP gateway problem, it appears that arpanet sites refuse to process mail from UUCP machines, while UUCP machines typically don't bother checking who stuff comes from before passing it on. In most cases this costs real money in terms of phone rates, use of spool space, etc. Perhaps programs that only allow items from uucp sites to go through would be in order, and all others returned... We could have messages of the type: Gateway to UUCPnet Closed.... Service Unavailable. Any ideas about what kind of response would result if this was implemented? A.
