Aharpo.245 NET.general utzoo!duke!chico!harpo!jerry Mon Jun 8 09:25:45 1981 exchange/area code confusion I don't know if they have done it yet, but I know that New York Bell is also planning to use "area codes" as exchanges in New York City. The reason is simply that they ran out of exchanges. To make a call out of the local area code you now have to prefix the number with a 1. Something you didn't have to do until recently. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
