The graphics used in "Tempest" (I haven't seen "Space Duel") \are/ vector graphics. Atari has a system they call QuadraScan, which was first used in a b/w version for Asteroids. A color vector display sounds hard to do, but the only actual problem you have to deal with is the beam convergence (how much the red, green, and blue electron beams separate near the edges of the tube). The same type of hardware is used as in a b/w vector display but you have to keep track of three intensities at a time instead of one. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
