Although nobody got a perfect score, every question but one was answered by at least one person! However, people seemed to have trouble remembering titles, and of course spelling was atrocious. Alas, all things must end, so here are the answers: (a) "Leave us... the thoughts of one man to another cannot possibly concern you." The Roman Proconsul to former Captain Merrick (Bread and Circuses) (b) "You will all die horribly, in searing pain!" Red Jack (the Ripper) after possessing the ship's computer (Wolf in the Fold) (c) "Let's get the hell out of here." Captain Kirk, after returning from 1920's Earth (City on the Edge of Forever) (d) "NO KILL I" The Horta, after being wounded by phaser fire (The Devil in the Dark). Actually, this was not spoken, but etched in rock using acid. (e) "I was winning! I would have won!" Trelane whining to his parents (The Squire of Gothos) Was Trelane really played by Liberace like some people said? It seems unlikely, but he certainly bore a striking resemblance. (f) "A child could do it!" Doctor McCoy, after taking an Educator lesson on brain surgery (Spock's Brain) (g) "This unit must survive" M5's apology for slaughtering the war games fleet (The Ultimate Computer) (h) "Have you ever read Milton, Captain?" Superman Kahn to Kirk, referring to his exile to a hostile planet (Space Seed) (i) "beep beep... beep beep... beep beep..." (tranlslation: "no...no...no") Captain Christoper Pike protesting being taken to Talos IV (The Menagerie) Two people actually got this one, so it wasn't as hard as I thought. "Tricorders" or "communicators" were not accepted because they aren't sentient. Not the Enterprise computer's destruct sequence either, that goes "beep beep BEEP" after each officer's confirmation (there is also the question of whether the ship's computer is sentient, and if so, if it has any rights as a Federation citizen...) (j) "We drained five phasers and they kept coming. We killed thousands." Captain Ronald Tracy describing massacre of Yangs (The Omega Glory). (k) "Help me Spock! Spock! Help me! Aaaaaaarrrrghh." Kahless the Unforgettable, granddaddy of all Klingons, *imitating* Surak of Vulcan to lure Spock, Kirk and Lincoln into a trap (The Savage Curtain) (l) "A thousand throats may be slit in one night by a running man." Unidentified Klingon's suggestion to Captain Kang regarding the takeover of the Enterprise (Day of the Dove). Nobody at all got this one, which I thought was one of the easier ones! (m) "Potassium Nitrate" Spock's immediate identification (!) of a white powder he sees from the view- screen (!!) of the Enterprise during Kirk's fight with the Gorn (Arena) This one was easier than I thought. Scoring: 26 points total, two points per quote, one each for entity and title. Congratulations to Phil (eagle!karn) and Rich Rosen (pyuxjj!rlr) who each tied with a high score of 19/26. More trivia to come...
