Other companies have licenses in other countries. Either Midway or the original Japanese company -- I don't know which -- has licensed Atari to manufacture a home version of the game for its cartridge-game computer. Ads for this game have appeared in national magazines. Incidently, I claim to have helped invent the best existing pattern for the original Midway PACMAN game, it having allowed me to achieve a high score of 249,640 on the hard version of the game. My friend Dean got a score of 276,000 on the easy version. Neither one of us feels that we have developed the full potential of this pattern -- we just don't have the stamina to play it longer without making a mistake. These are the highest scores I or any of my friends have ever seen displayed on a machine anywhere. Would anyone who has seen with their own eyes a higher score please notify me privately. I will report high score later if there's interest. There are really two patterns -- one for the easy screens (where the monsters have a safe period upon eating an energizer) and one for the hard screens (starting with the 9th or 4th key screen, depending on the machine version, the monsters don't turn blue at all and the pacman is slowed down). In the easy screens, my pattern eats all four monsters at the first energizer and eats the fruit twice per screen (it only appears twice). On the hard screens, the pattern gets the key once, but takes out virtually all the dots before it runs out. I am willing to negotiate the disclosure of these patterns together with advanced screen techniques, differences between the two machine versions, and various other information that will probably double your high score within a week. If you would like to impress your friends and dates with your PACMAN prowess, contact me for details.
