It is also a non-cheater's way of getting rid of a cursed ring! I was wearing two rings; one was unknown, (it later proved to be slow digestion), and the other was searching. I was carrying a lot of stuff, so when i found another ring i was unable to carry it. I quickly dropped a -2 banded mail (rust monstered, not cursed), and picked up the ring. I put it on, and alas it was CURSED. I left, sorrier for my greed/adventurousness, and walked into a room which contained a nymph. At this point, i wished very much that our rogue had the nymth-invulnerability bug, since i was all set up for it. I decided to see if i could get the nympth to remove the cursed ring anyway. I dropped all my possesions, (they filled the room), until i stood naked except for the ring. The nymph obliged in stealing it, but when i gathered up my posessions i found i could only wear one ring, because i was already wearing one! The ghost ring could not be removed, either. In the next room, however, when i stepped on a purple potion, i was told that it was "a purple potion (on left hand)". I tried to remove the potion, and lo and behold, it worked! When i quaffed it, it turned out to be magic detection. (I also could not put it back on once it was off). weird. I wish now that my cursed ring had been random teleport; i wonder if i would have kept teleporting after the nymph stole my ring, or if it would have stopped, but resumed after i began wearing the potion. For those purists who view exploitingany rogue bug as cheating, i can only add that if you can ingeniously get a nymph to steal your cursed ring, (risking certain death if a xorn, troll, violet fungi or other nasty catches you in your underwear), then the ring should be stolen. This bug only kludges what should be the fair outcome.
