Comment from jon: Yes, friends, it really is possible to win. You need several lucky breaks, and enough experience to make best use of them. In my case, I kept my strength up, had several good pieces of armor to get me through Rust-monster territory, saved my enchant weapon scrolls until I found a two-handed sword, performed genocide on Umber hulks and Wraiths, and used magic scrolls and wands to kill my first few Dragons. I was not a "benefactor" of the invulnerability bug, but by the time I reached depth 22 or so, I was essentially invincible. By the way, I counsel against going too deep in search of ever-increasing amounts of gold; getting out is \\Boring//. mentioned by fischer: 24,000 of the 38957 came from the sale of +6 plate mail. When (if) you get out alive, "the system" buys everything you obtained in the course of your adventures and adds that to your gold total. Personally, I would like to keep the Amulet, and perhaps mount it on on top of my hearth... ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
