When you reach the end end game (> level 40), it is possible to get more than one Boon (if you don't understand this, you shouldn't be reading this). In any case, if you wipe out all of the "moving" monsters (V, U), the game will hang, no doubt because it needs to occasionally "start" monsters wandering, and until it does, it hangs. We also found that occasionally you could drop the Amulet, pick it up, and have two!!! We did this till we had 5. Needless to say, playing a fair game of rogue to the end appears to be almost impossible. I must admit that it was almost as much fun "breaking" the game as it was playing it. If you wish to "fix" the more recent versions of rogue, we suggest you start with "adb -w ...". By the way, the suggestion a couple of days ago to distribute linkable objects for games is a very good idea. Hooks for checking time and setting priorities (etc) is also very good. I think most system maintainers don't mind games, if they can properly administer them. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
