Acwruecmp.10 net.games utzoo!decvax!cwruecmp!ordy Fri Sep 4 13:14:07 1981 rogue scores If you all remember, I sent out a brief blurb on the game "rogue" a week or two ago, and since then I have gotten many replies, both in my personal mail, and through news. I have received many "rogue -s" point summaries, some with totals into the millions, and levels up to 200. I wanted to be able to take all of the scores I received and create a "top 25" list, which cut across different Unix sites. However I have been told that some of the scores represent game versions with bugs that allow the player to save games, continue till death, and then pick up a level or so back, to try again. This is an unfair advantage, especially since our version does not allow this!!!!! In any case, I would still like to compile my list, and would ask any sites with the desire to send me your scores. It may make sense to add a column to the score table which indicates the rogue version played, in case there is an "advantage factor". Finally, one site sent me a piece of mail asking about rogue on an 11/44, I assume running V7. In my haste to leave last night (about 1:30 A.M., level 19) I managed to lose the mail item. Personally, I don't know that much about the game, however the size of the executable on the VAX is larger than the address space on an 11. I assume that there is a version (possibly the original?) on the 11, however possibly watered down. I would ask that any sites with such information put it in the news for the benefit of that site.
