I dare say that for many of us, software engineering is the best label for what we do, although we were probably schooled in "computer science" and may informally refer to ourselves as "programmers". With this distinction, maybe computer science (the part that's NOT software engineering, and NOT programming) *does* relate closely to mathematics. Maybe.
