We have come to the tentative conclusion that they should be allowed, but put in a separate newsgroup. This is important because some sites will want to turn them off, either due to resource problems, or because it makes it harder to justify being on USENET if their employees are tempted to jump ship. So consider this an announcement of net.jobs, to be used to post "help wanted" type ads. Please don't use net.general for job ads. There has also been the suggestion of allowing advertisements for products and services, in a separate newsgroup such as net.commercial or net.ad. No decision has been reached on this issue, and I bet there are lots of hot opinions on the topic. If you have an opinion on this issue, feel free to discuss it in net.news.group (PLEASE, don't followup this article, it will go to the wrong newsgroup!)
