Arabbit.286 net.cooks utcsrgv!utzoo!decvax!ucbvax!ihnss!mhtsa!rabbit!jj Sat Feb 27 14:22:40 1982 Regarding deliberately offensive articles I request that we keep net.cooks, currently one of the most interesting and productive non-programming news groups, free from articles that are obviously intended only to offend the readers and to start discussion about the offending articles that will preempt the intended use of the news group. I suggest that there be no respose to such articles, and that users at the same location as the offenders use any techniques that may be legal and acceptable to them to discourage the continued destructive misuse of net.cooks. A usefull place to discuss such articles might be net.vandalism, however I am not proposing its formation. I agree with that arguement will only encourage individuals who apparantly demonstrate a destructive intent. Jim Johnston BTL/MH(rabbit!jj) P.S. Keep your replies short, I have no interest or patience with those who wish to harrangue about free speech, without accepting the responsibility that free speech places on the speaker. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
