I have had this dessert many times and can attest to its true Ultimateness. An interesting sidelight: Here in the Ontario sector of the Great White North restaurants must have a special (and often difficult to obtain) liquor license to serve liquor. Several unlicensed Toronto restaurants have been listing a certain mysterious dessert called "Strawberries Romanoff" for some years now. Curious as to what this might be, I ordered it and was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was in fact The Ultimate by another name! It turns out that it is a standard ploy to enable unlicensed restaurants to serve liqueurs after dinner. Intelligent (and sneaky) patrons who prefer their Grand Marnier straight would order "Strawberries Romanoff, hold the fruit". Cheers.
