Another Columbia note: The APU oil problem was explained as leakage of hydrazine fuel around a carbon gasket into the oil, causing a chemical reaction which produces a soapy, waxy polymer chain, which clogs the oil filter, causing it to be bypassed automatically, which will work, but is hazardous. APU 2 was not affected by this problem, as it was a replacement for an APU which malfunctioned during STS-1 flight. Aviation Week Note: If desired, I will submit a summary of the latest stuff in AW&ST each week, as I get it anyway, and am a regular net user. -Joe Pistritto- ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
