My main difficulty had been 1. We do not have any tape units connected specifically to the LSI 2. We do not have any of the boot devices. Instead we have a Shugart SA-1004 ( 8 Mbyte formatted Wincheter disk ). However, we have gotten quite far regenerating the bulk of the kernel on a VAX using 11-compatibility mode. Basically, we're now stuck with the funny magic numbers ( f2 in ?map, etc.) alluded to in kernel/sys/40SYS. Would appreciate any information from the group, particularly those with similar experiences. Thus far, we have managed to generate a verrion 7 file system on the Shugart drive, and have restored the small root existing the 2.8 tape. Our last hurdle, as I perceive it, is the boot program and a /unix with my disk driver routine incorporated. I looking forward to hearing from anybody (particularly Bob Kridle) - Peng Ang ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
