Although the author isn't very good about explaining (or understanding?) computer in-jokes beyond the Gee-Whiz level, the article is quite interesting. "Bell Lab's" (sic) fortune cookie program is mentioned at length, as is the "Jargon File" compiled at the various AI labs. Which brings me to the point: Some time ago Geoff Goodfellow had an on-line copy of the vocabulary file. This file has long since been archived, but a current copy of it must exist somewhere. Is there anybody (besides me) that would like to see it? If we can work up a some interest, it might be possible to make it available again. One of my regrets when I moved to this job was that my electronic copy was clobbered..... How about it, troops? ---- ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
