With auto-newline on, the ANSI "INDEX" sequence does not stay in the same column (microcode bug). Certain screen editors would be happier with character insert. However, in a commercial environment VT100s work better than any of the dozen or so other terminals I've seen so situated. Terminal (hardware) maintenance is very important to some. VT100 is nicely modular. We plug RetroGraphics into ours. We all hope that DEC's terminal products group's next family of videos will fix some of the omissions; VT100-lookalike vendors have already fixed several. ------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
