I didn't design the "virtual memory" stuff; Jeff Schiller (the original author) retrofitted it while I generally enhanced the editor by adding new commands. I never got to use the "virtual memory" version; I just heard stories. It is clear that I do not have hard evidence to support my claims; they are really just my expectations. Admitting that I don't really know what I am talking about, I withdraw the point. Ken Harrenstein told me tonight that he has cmopletely rewritten Tores, and his new editor has no limitation on the size of files. Perhaps he can say something about how his scheme works and what the performance is like. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
