I have received a note today informing me that there is a mechanism for doing the local distribution at that site, so that mailings would only have to be sent once. If I can confirm this, it might be worth people's while to ask the various folks at PARC on lists which they maintain if such distribution points could be made for them also. General question: how large ought a mailing to a single host be before some mention of similar mechanisms being installed at that host be suggested? We (I) have no power to influence the folks at other sites to do so, save withholding the mailings. Further (can of worm) question: should we undertake to "standardize" as much of the mailing list junk (I use the term endearingly) among the many hosts and mailers as possible? (Again, the sovreignty to enforce such action is lacking.) That's my page full (and then some). -- Karl -- ------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
