Admittedly a hack, but most will not want to deal with the C code anyways.. Western's strings are not any different from any other corporate entities. If you hack DEC cruft, you can only release it to licensed sites anyways. Whats the difference? If you can convince Alan Snyder to ever release his portable compiler and rehack it for V7 C, that also might be a way ( although I'd expect the ayatolla would have less trouble running for president). Personally, I think both USENET and various Arpa mailers/readers are still in the dark ages as far as human readers desire. However the nice thing about USENET is that you have half a chance of connecting to orders of magnitude more news sites then are present on Arpa[net].
